We’re well aware that you all (ZenFone Max Pro M2 users) are desperately waiting to experience the stable Android 10 while some of the world is enjoying Android 11 beta already. But, let’s keep that aside, as today we’re here to talk about a Pie update-triggered problem that has left many devices unusable.

A quick gist of the matter is, after installing the March update (16.2017.2002.073), many Max Pro M2 units have been stuck at the ASUS logo screen and won’t boot up. The phones have been unusable for months as the problem reared it’s ugly head while the world was locked down due to COVID-19.

As the number of the affected units multiplied and the matter caught heat, Asus India asked the complainants to keep their cool while they work to resolve the problem. But then, it came to light that this update-triggered bootloop issue fried the device’s motherboard and required replacement.

Going by the reports so far, while the affected users were initially asked to pay for replacing the motherboard, some of them managed to get a free replacement device while others complain the company told their device is out of warranty to get a swapped unit. So, they’ve to pay for the repair.

So here we are with a poll to get an exact picture of how widespread the issue is and what all alternatives have the affected users been offered so far. The question is, is your device even affected? If it is, have you been asked for a paid motherboard replacement (if so, do you even wish to pay)? Or have you been offered a swapped unit?

NOTE: This poll will be up for a week and we’ll declare the results by next weekend. We’ll be waiting for your responses. If you want to share anything else regarding this issue, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below in the comments section of this page.

Update 2 (June 20)

It’s time for the results. This poll got a total of 182 votes, out of which 60% of devices are reportedly affected by the bootloop or ‘stuck on logo’ issue. Among this 60%, 42.3% say they are not interested in paying for repair/replacement, about 12.1% say they did pay, while 5.5% got a swapped unit.

So the gist of the matter is, while not all devices (40%) are facing the issue, those who are (60%), majorly aren’t looking forward to paying for this update-triggered problem.
