New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 05, 2020) follows:

HMD Global announced in early 2018 that all of its devices – except the few Android Go-powered models – will receive timely monthly security updates as well as two OS upgrades during their time in the hands of users.

Perhaps the best-ever news to come from a non-Google vendor as far as software updates are concerned, but time has a way of proving one right or wrong. Today, no Nokia device has the latest March 2020 security patch.

Matter of fact, February patches are still rolling out to various Nokia handsets. One of the latest to get updated to the February security patch is the Nokia 2.2, an Android One device released in June 2019 running Android Pie.

The Finnish company promised to roll out the Nokia 2.2 Android 10 update this quarter alongside the Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, and Nokia 4.2. However, there are no official reports about when exactly this update will arrive with only three weeks to the deadline.

On the brighter side, reports coming in from Greece suggest that the Nokia 2.2 Android 10 update might actually be available to download. We haven’t come across any official confirmation of this claim, so we urge our readers to take this story with a pinch of salt in the eye.

Android 10 update roadmap for Nokia devices

The publication that reported this development, Digital Life, claims HMD Global says the Nokia 2.2 currently runs on Android 10, but once again, not even they were able to provide any proof of the update actually rolling out to users.

In India, Nokia says the Nokia 2.2 will soon receive the update to Android 10, which further suggests that the OS may not be out yet. But we cannot rule out anything for now, especially since we know various markets receive software updates at different times.

Nokia has already released Android 10 update to the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

That said, we will keep an eye on the developments and let you know when the OS actually rolls out to the Nokia 2.2. Meanwhile, feel free to chime in via the comments section just in case your unit picks up the new OS.

Update (March 17, 2020)

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
