New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 02, 2020) follows:

After weeks of waiting, Realme finally started rolling out the stable Realme UI update based on Android 10 to the Realme X and Realme 5 Pro last week in markets outside China.

The update arrived more than a month after a similar rollout for the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT, the first devices from the company to receive the stable OS in India. The duo also picked up support for VoWiFi calling on Jio and Airtel recently via the February security update.

When the Realme UI update arrived on the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT, not everyone received the OTA update on day 1. To ease the process, Realme even went ahead and asked device owners willing to receive the update first to submit their interest via a registration form.

A similar form was made available for Realme X & Realme 5 Pro, but it’s no more.

But still, some owners of the devices hadn’t received the update a month after the OS rolled out. There were talks of postponed rollout due to technical issues, but it’s likely the delay was due to an obvious reason – the rollout was staged.

Realme X and Realme 5 Pro find themselves in similar circumstances following the Realme UI update. Having arrived a few days ago, many are yet to receive the OS and naturally, concerns are beginning to show up.

Typically, software updates are rolled out in batches, meaning some users of the same device may receive the OTA download notification ahead of others. This is the situation with the Realme X and Realme 5 Pro updates to Android 10.

According to Realme support, this staged rollout is expected to complete by March 15, meaning some users of the devices may have to wait for a couple of weeks before actually getting a taste of the new OS.

We would like to inform you that the realme UI update for realme 5 Pro is in the staged roll-out process and will be rolled out completely by 15th March 2020. However, please note if the timeline varies, we will notify you accordingly.

With the continued unavailability of the OTA update, some are now asking Realme to provide the manual download link to install the Android 10-based firmware.

Realme says the download links will be made available in the coming days, but until then, feel free to grab the manual download link for your Realme X or Realme 5 Pro here. But keep in mind that you’ll need an unlocked bootloader to flash this particular Realme UI update to your device.

According to Realme support, the incoming Android 10 OTA also tags along Realme 5 Pro VoWiFi support for folks in India. See the full details here.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
