This One Piece article is based on spoilers. Only those interested in spoilers should take a read.

One Piece 972 raw scans are finally here. I know it’s only been a few days since the previous chapter was officially released. But the hype of the upcoming chapter is so contagious. This chapter will surely take our emotions in a roller coaster ride.

Kozuki Oden’s execution will finally come in the upcoming chapter. Not that we have been waiting for him to die, but this is a sign that we can now return to the present time where we were left with a huge cliffhanger. Unfortunately, we will not be taken to the present time just yet. But it is confirmed that the next chapter will.

One Piece 972 raw scans highlight

1. Shinuobu’s revelation made a great impact on the people of Wano. However, there is nothing much they can do as they are surrounded by Kaido’s men. Those who even try to beg in Oden’s behalf faced an immediate punishment.
2. The word about Oden’s sacrifice for the country was immediately spread throughout Wano using arrows.
3. The temperature of the boiling oil was increased to 700 degrees. The people who now understand Oden’s foolish actions cheers him on.
4. Oden openly expresses that if he survives the boiling he would want to open the borders of Wano. He reveals that the Kozuki family was responsible for the closing of Wano. He also revealed the reason for it. Oden knew that even if he survives, he will still be killed that day. With that in mind, he charged his vassals to carry on his wish.
5. The boiling temperature was again increased. However, Oden still managed to survive. As was expected, Orochi still decided to kill Oden and erase the Kozuki blood by killing his family. On a side note, I think we will finally understand the root of Nekomamushi and Inurashi’s conflict. Inurashi probably blames Neko for Oden’s death by inciting Orochi because Oden survived.
6. Before Oden was killed, he threw his vassals away to let them escape with a strict charge to Open Wano. The people weep at Oden’s death. Oden dies with a smile.
7. The news immediately reached Toki and she opens a letter that Oden gave her before attacking Kaido. Oden states in the letter about an impending war to break out in 20 years from that time. Oden asks Toki to use her power. Toki in tears says “look, Oden! 20 years into the future.”

One Piece chapter 972 official release

The next narration on the One Piece 972 raw scans says that the story continues in the present time. I do have some observations that I want to discuss once the official chapter is out. It seems like this chapter is the perfect introduction to what is about to happen in the present time.

One Piece chapter 972 will be officially released on February 21, 2020, in the Weekly Shonen Jump issue both in digital and print. There is no announced break next week, so we will be enjoying two chapters with a one-week interval. It will be nice to see the Straw hats again.
