New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 10, 2020) follows:

The Android One initiative is (theoretically) the perfect solution to bridge the gap between Google’s own Pixel lineup and any other smartphone family in terms of regular software updates.

Matter of fact, a bunch of Nokia and Motorola phones already picked up stable Android 10 update by the virtue of the same.

Xiaomi took the pole position when the second phase of Android One program came into light. The Chinese OEM maintains a separate portfolio of phones running vanilla Android. However, none of them is blessed with the touch of Android 10 as of yet.

According to a conversation with official support channel back in December, the company was actively testing the long-anticipated update for Mi A2. Another report claimed that Xiaomi might bring the stable OTA for Mi A2 (Lite) & Mi A3 along with January 2020 patch.

Unlike Samsung or OnePlus, there is no public beta channel for the Xiaomi Android One phones. However, we have spotted a concrete evidence of the arrival of Android 10 via stable channel – at least for Mi A2.

As you can see, Xiaomi silently uploaded the Android 10 kernel source for Mi A2 (codename: jasmine). PiunikaWeb readers might remember a similar scenario with Mi 8, Poco F1 and some other Xiaomi phones. The company eventually released the stable Android 10 update for Mi 8.

At this moment, the ‘jasmine-q-oss’ branch is only useful for the kernel developers. No need to worry though, as the actual update is on the horizon, so keep bashing the ‘Check for updates’ button on your phone. There is no such development for Mi A2 Lite or Mi A3 yet.

Update 1 (January 10, 2020)

Xiaomi is on fire, as they have also uploaded the Android 10 kernel source code for Mi A3 (codename: laureal_sprout). The commit is here, while the corresponding branch (laurel-q-oss) can be found here.

According to user reports, Xiaomi is back again with a new Android 10 build for Mi A2. The software version is V11.0.5.0.QDIMIXM and it comes with January 2020 security patch.

Update 6 (March 18, 2020)
