New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 11, 2019) follows:

At this point, it is only a matter of time before a bunch of Samsung phones receives stable Android 10 update. The new system has been out since September and many phone makers have already rolled out the OTAs. These include OnePlus, Nokia and even Huawei.

Apart from the Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 family is expected to grab the stable update very soon. As such, we have seen these devices pick up beta updates one after another along the road to Android 10.

Samsung has just pushed out the fifth beta update to the Exynos Galaxy Note 10 variant. This comes a day after the US Snapdragon models received the third beta.

As expected, this beta update primarily fixes bugs that have been spotted during the testing phase. I mean that is the whole point of this beta program, right? The following is the changelog for the new build:

Changelog

Bug Fixes

– Camera Memory Leak

– If you switch to landscape mode while setting up subscription calendar, FC occurs

– Some Android process applications such as android.process.media are constantly down

– Clipboard edge is not displayed

– RESET occurs after FOTA update

– Lock screen gets black

– Orange box appears on the top left when entering app drawer

– FC disappears when you exit the home key within 2 seconds of LiveMessage camera video

This beta bumps the software version number to ZSL7. Interestingly, the OTA comes only a week or so after the fourth beta update (ZSL4). Similar to the new one, the older build also brought tons of bug fixes.

This sort of active development is in line with Samsung’s plans for the One UI 2.0 rollout. The OEM recently published their roadmap and the timeline indicated that the Galaxy Note 10 would pick up the stable Android 10 update during January 2020. You can read more on that timeline here.

In the release notes, Samsung also says that the beta Software Update will only be provided as a FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). As such, it is only going to be available for eligible devices in the beta program. To update, go to Settings → Software Update → Download and Install.

FYI, the current announcement is meant for the Korean 5G variant. Judging from the previous patterns, the global 4G Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ should also receive a similar update, but there is no such report till now.

Update

The update is now live in India as well as some European countries.
