Few days before the official release of One Piece chapter 961, spoilers spread on Reddit, Facebook & other social media platforms. Maybe the most exciting part of the chapter is seeing Oden in action.

The people scramble, as the gigantic mountain god lay waste in the capital of Wano. To save the capital from further destruction, Oden stepped in and fought with the beast.

Oden’s backstory already tells us that his strength were unusual even during his childhood. But defeating a beast the size of a mountain would, of course, take more than just physical strength.

Enma and Ame no Habakiri in Action

In a spoiler image posted on Facebook, we can see Oden using his two iconic swords, Enma and Ame no Habakiri. It would be the first time we see Oden wield his swords. Both swords are classified as meito, which literally means famous, excellent or named swords.

Enma and Ame no Habakiri are o wazomonos, a grade of swords only one step lower than the great grade swords in quality. Enma was crafted by Shimotsuki Kouzaboro, the same creator of Zoro’s Wado Ichimonji. While Ame no Habakiri is a creation of Tenguyama Hitetsu, who also created Zoro’s Sandai Kitetsu.

Oden controlled Enma and Ame no Habakiri’s Powers

As was explained by Hitetsu, Enma extracts the user’s ryou or busoshuko haki. It’s purpose is to force a stronger strike than intended. When we saw Zoro try Enma for the first time, he ended up cutting up a part of the coast line.

The power of these two swords are exceptional. Speaking with embellishment, Hitetsu claimed Enma can cut through to the bottom of hell. Likewise, but opposite in nature, Ame no Habakiri’s light nature allows it to slice through the heavens.

Having these swords surely taxes the wielder’s strength. But Oden was the only known person to have masterfully tamed both powers. It truly is amazing that Oden can control these two swords at such a young age.

Oden Kills the Mountain god

Having explained Enma and Ame no Habakiri’s power, it is safe to assume that Oden will use both powers to kill the mountain god. Since Oden tamed both swords, he can use their abilities to magnify his strike. Seeing the humongous size of the beast, it would not be an overkill to use ryou to finish the job.

Maybe his strike will also cause some damage to the capital. This could be one of the reasons Kozuki Sukiyaki would exile him.

Oden Saves Kinemon and Denjiro

In the previous chapter, Kinemon brought a white pig to the capital, hoping to exchange it for money. Later on, he found out from Denjiro that the white pig is an offspring of a mountain god. As was written in their ancient text, the parent of the pig came to retrieve its offspring.

This turned out to be a threat to the whole capital. The size of an adult mountain god is comparable to a mountain. Whosoever brought this threat to the capital would surely face severe punishment.

In chapter 961 however, Oden will step forward and claim he has the pig to cover for Kinemon and Denjiro. Because of this, the shogun will exile Oden. This act inspires Kinemon and Denjiro to follow Oden and become his retainers.
