Huawei has been one of the busiest Android vendors with Android 10 updates. The company started testing EMUI 10 beta on the flagship Huawei P30 and P30 Pro back in September and has expanded the program gradually to other devices in and outside China.

The EMUI 10 beta program went global a month ago and soon after, the company welcomed more devices into the program namely Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, Mate 20 X (4G), Honor View 20, Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, and Honor Magic 2.

From the second batch of devices that joined EMUI 10 beta in China, those using the Mate 20 Pro in Europe are now reporting that the device is receiving an update to Android 10 with EMUI 10 running on top.

Initial reports had suggested that the incoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro EMUI 10 update is stable, but it has now emerged that it’s actually a beta version of the OS.

The new Android 10 update is arriving as software version EMUI 10.0.0.136 (C432E7R1P5) and weighs in at 4.42GB, a typical size that you’d expect from a heavily customized EMUI 10 update that aims to introduce a whole new OS and user experience.

Considering the China EMUI 10 beta program for the Mate 20 Pro only opened a short while ago coupled by the fact that the P30 Pro hasn’t received the stable Android 10 update just yet meant that stories of a stable Mate 20 Pro EMUI 10 update were a little farfetched.

Naturally, since the P30 and P30 Pro got into the EMUI 10 beta testing program ahead of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, the stable version of Android 10 should be pushed to the former pair ahead of the latter duo.

Also receiving a new software update is the Mate 20 X, but unlike the Mate 20 Pro, the former’s is a stable update based on EMUI 9.1.0. Yeah, the base software is still Android 9 Pie, but the European (global) EMUI 10 beta update shouldn’t be too far away.

As part of the small update that weighs in at a mere 2.77MB, the Mate 20 X is receiving improvements to sound effects in certain scenarios. Interestingly, the Mate 20 X update is still bundled with August security patches, which is strange arriving in mid-October.

Both the Mate 20 Pro EMUI 10 update and Mate 20 X EMUI 9.1 update are arriving over the air, which obviously means some people will receive the downloads ahead of others, so don’t freak out if the OTA notification hasn’t reached your end.

Other Huawei devices that are in line to get Android 10 include the Mate 10 series, P Smart 2019, P Smart+ 2019, Honor 20i and Honor 10 Lite, Enjoy 10 Plus (Y9 Prime 2019), Mate 20 Lite and Nova 4e, and many others, including Honor devices.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem.
