In the world of Android smartphones, rebranding often drastically affects the fate of software updates. Take the example of Mi 5X, aka the Chinese version of Mi A1. While the Android One variant now runs Pie with latest July security patch, Mi 5X is still stuck with Android 8.1 Oreo!

The same saga is happening with OPPO as well. OPPO F7 Youth was taken by Realme as the foundation of their first phone – Realme 1.

While both phones were initially launched with Android Oreo based ColorOS 5.2, Realme started a beta testing initiative to deliver Pie based ColorOS 6 to Realme 1.

At the mid of June, some Realme 1 owners started to get the first taste of Pie in the form of ColorOS 6. Proper HAL3 support, Nightscape mode in stock camera, various new software feature and May 5, 2019 security patch level landed with the update.

A wider rollout of the Android Pie update for Realme 1 was started during the first half of July, and majority of the users got a slightly new build (CPH1859EX_11_A.37 instead of CPH1859EX_11_A.35). However, the changelog remained identical.

This week seems to be a hectic one for Realme/OPPO engineers, as they are rolling out truckload of new updates for a bunch of Realme phones, including the re-release of the ColorOS 6 OTA for Realme 2 and Realme C1.

Now Realme 1 becomes the newest candidate in the roster, as the phone is reportedly getting a new update in the form of CPH1859EX_11_A.41 build tag. Those who have already flashed the stable pie update are receiving an incremental OTA that weighs about 151 MB.

While Realme C2 and Realme U1 recently got similar small bugfix updates, the underlying security patch level for both phones were untouched. Realme 1 follows Realme 3 Pro in this context, as the new OTA brings July security patches to the former too.

As always, this OTA is currently available to a very small number of random users. If everything performs good without any showstopper bug, Realme 1 owners should see this update hitting their phones very soon.

Update 1 (August 05)

The July update is circulating with a different build number (CPH1861EX_11_C.41) on some Realme 1 units. However, the changelog is still the same.

Users say, the patch initially shows CPH1861EX_11_A.41, but changes to CPH1861EX_11_C.41 after installation. Here are some user shared images:
