The ‘invisible head’ bug in Starfield has become a notorious glitch that perplexes and amuses players in equal measure.
The much-awaited space exploration game, Starfield, previously exhibited issues like excessive motion blur and broken HDR. Now, the missing head bug has created an eerie sight, transforming players’ allies into headless entities.
Numerous players have reported the ‘invisible head’ glitch, which is related to the Chameleon gear that grants invisibility.
Starfield invisible head (headless characters) bug
The Chameleon gear (set of armor) grants players’ character temporary invisibility. When equipped, this gear allows players to blend into their surroundings, making stealth gameplay more accessible.
However, the bug seems to twist the concept of invisibility in an unintended way (1,2,3,4,5,6).
My head is in permanent chameleon mode even with my spacesuit/pack off. Does anyone know of a fix for this bug?

Instead of making the player character or companion invisible, it inadvertently erases their heads from existence. This glitch can be particularly unsettling when engaging in conversations.
According to some, the headless bug is also prompted when they switch to the 3rd person mode. This further adds an additional layer of complexity to the problem.
Happens pretty much anytime i go into 3rd person mode. Looksmenu didnt fix it.

Although there hasn’t been an official acknowledgment of the issue by the developers at this time, it’s possible that they may address it in the future.
Affected players are certain that is bug is a result of Chameleon gear. So, equipping other items has helped some players temporarily. But it still continues to bug their character.
That said, we hope that the developers find a permanent resolution to this absurd issue at the earliest.
