Smartphone brands are constantly in quest of something new and different to stand out from the rest in the crowded market. Nokia proved a company doesn’t always have to come up with top-of-the-line specs to be distinct, even regular OTAs do the trick.

In a world of growing digital literacy, all OEMs have to push incremental updates to gain customer trust. Yesterday, Samsung released August security patch to US unlocked Note 9 units. And later during the day, Android 10 made its debut to Google Pixel phones, Essential Phone & Redmi K20 Pro.

Reminiscing Xiaomi’s track record, the distribution of the package on the very first day was something out of the blue. Not to mention, all manufacturers will bring Android 10 to their latest flagship devices pretty soon.

It’s September, right? What about security patches? Leaving Android 10 aside, Samsung has pushed security updates to Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy M10 respectively. Galaxy Note 10’s overhaul bumps up the security patch to September whereas M10’s to August.

As for the currently circulating package for Note 10, it brings with it audio quality improvements via headphones. Carrying the build number N975FXXU1ASHE, the OTA started arriving for Exynos International variants only. You can read the changelog below.

What’s new:
* September security patches
* The audio quality via wired headphones has been improved
* The security of your device has been improved

In case you are not aware, Samsung’s flagship devices are of two types. The US and China users get Snapdragon SoC under the hood. And, in the other markets, they include an in-house Exynos counterpart. Owing to the restricted rollout of September update, those with Snapdragon variants need to wait.

As for M10, it is the OEM’s offering for budget-sensitive customers, residing on the bottom of their ‘M’ series lineup. And now, the phone is getting the not so latest August security update.

M10 August update

The changelog contains security enhancements only. Nonetheless, the package weighs 302.55 MB. The inclusion of tiny features that didn’t appear on the changelog is yet to be found out. With this update, Samsung completes August patch to all ‘M’ series phones including M20, M30, and M40.

Over the air overhauls arrive in batches. That’s how they are! The fact that someone got it doesn’t mean you should. Therefore, wait in peace until the notification pokes your screen. In the meantime, stay tuned to our Samsung section for more stories.
