Samsung’s Galaxy A series is the bridge between the Korean company’s low-end M models and flagship devices. Going by the tradition of launching features first on an A series smartphone before it gets the way out to the S variants, we can interpret the former as an experimental lineup. (Take in-display fingerprint scanner for instance. It first came to light on A50, then S10).

In the Touchwiz days, we used to hear Samsung users screaming for software updates. As they have migrated to OneUI, we can sense things changing (at least with the security patches).

The latest to the list of Samsung devices getting August security patches apart from Galaxy S10 lineup and S9/S9+ is Galaxy A20. Among the Galaxy J and A series, few days back, the OEM pushed the update to Galaxy J7 Pro and A5 (2017) too.

And now the latest security patch is making way to Galaxy A20. For refresher, Samsung launched Galaxy A20 in March this year. Featuring an AMOLED screen measuring 6.4-inches with HD+ resolution, it is the entry-level variant in the whole A series lineup.

The device sports an Exynos 7884 octa-core chipset and Mali-G72 MP2 GPU made out of 14nm manufacturing process. You can pop-in an SD card to expand its 32 GB internal storage all the way up to 1 TB.

Only one variant is available, with 3 GB RAM. Talking about the camera, it has a dual rear setup housing a 13 MP, f/1.9 primary lens and a secondary wide angle lens with 8 MP resolution. The selfie shooter features an 8 MP sensor.

The Galaxy A20’s security patch dated 1 August doesn’t bring anything new. According to the changelog, the security of the phone has been improved. The size of the package depends on whether or not you are jumping from an older than previous version, as is the case with any other OTA update.

In case you are still wondering why you haven’t got the notification, don’t curse the company. The rollout has just begun and it will reach your phone anytime soon.

Our research shows A30 is yet to receive the security update of August. By the time two weeks passed in the previous month, Samsung had released A30’s patch for July. So, sit tight!
