A few days ago, the Pixel Fold 2 design was revealed in a 360-degree video and 5K renders, suggesting that Google might be preparing to ditch the iconic camera bar on the back that debuted with the Pixel 6 for a squared-off camera bump. The phone will also take a few cues from the OnePlus Open, apparently opting for a taller aspect ratio on both the cover and inner displays.

Google isn’t the only one lining up a successor to their 2023 foldable smartphone. In fact, the competition is just heating up, with Samsung also preparing to launch its highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 6 later this year. New 5K renders and a 360-degree video have leaked online, giving us a sneak peek at its sleek new design.

The leaked Galaxy Z Fold 6 design maintains the foldable phone’s signature style, but with a cleaner, boxier look that could give the Pixel Fold 2 a run for its money. The renderings suggest a more svelte profile than previous models, with the two halves of the device folding nearly flat for a seamless look. Samsung seems determined to eliminate that pesky panel gap. While early renders don’t always guarantee a perfect match with the final product, they do offer an early glimpse into what fans can expect. Speculation suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet – a move that would put it directly in the Pixel Fold 2’s crosshairs when it comes to sleek pocketability.

In fact, from the CAD renders, the Pixel Fold 2 measures 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.27 mm when unfolded. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm when unfolded, making the Fold 2 potentially the thinnest foldable smartphone in the U.S. As a result of being taller than the Fold 6, the Pixel Fold 2 will also house a bigger 7.9-inch inner screen compared to the 7.6-inch panel on Samsung’s offering. The latter will also have a smaller 6.2-inch outer display compared to the Pixel Fold 2’s 6.4-inch unit.

Unfortunately, the leaks don’t spill the beans on the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s specs. However, we can be pretty certain Samsung will arm it with the latest Qualcomm chipset, plenty of AI smarts and top-of-the-line features. Sadly, it seems like the S Pen slot might still be absent.

While the battle between the Pixel Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 won’t truly unfold until their respective launches later this year, these early leaks hint at a thrilling clash of foldable phones. With foldable devices gradually making their mark in major markets like the US, Samsung’s latest offering poses a formidable challenge to Google Pixel Fold 2, which has garnered attention among users eager for a foldable experience beyond Samsung’s offerings, especially its predecessor was ranked as the second-best foldable phone of 2023 by tech influencer MKBHD.
