The Pixel February 2024 update seems to be rolling out like clockwork, marking a potential turning point in Google’s update game. This comes after a string of frustrating delays plaguing recent updates, including the latest Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Users across various regions, carriers, and Pixel models are experiencing what could be described as the smoothest update rollout in recent times.

Remember the November update fiascos (1,2) on T-Mobile, AT&T, and Google Fi that also extended to other regions like the UK? Or the December woes that hit Verizon users across various Pixel models? January wasn’t much better, with reports of delays in Australia (1,2) and on AT&T again (1,2). Frustration mounted, with sideloading becoming a norm and the “Check for updates” button feeling more like a cruel joke.

But February might just be the month things changed. Reports across Reddit paint a picture of a smooth, widespread rollout, encompassing multiple countries, carriers, and Pixel models simultaneously. The update process itself seems smoother too, with the magical “Check for updates” button actually working for many. This newfound smoothness hints at potential backend improvements by Google. Pixel users, especially those who haven’t experienced the joys of timely updates, will be having a sigh of relief. After all, timely and consistent updates are a key selling point for Pixel devices, and it seems Google is finally living up to that promise.

While it’s too early to declare complete victory, the Pixel February 2024 update rollout is a welcome change. Let’s hope it marks the beginning of a new era of reliable and timely updates for all Pixel users, regardless of their region or carrier. No more sideloading, no more waiting games – just seamless updates, as it should be.
