Google has officially started rolling out the February 2024 update for eligible Pixel devices. This update focuses primarily on resolving various bugs and patching security vulnerabilities to enhance your Pixel experience.

While this update doesn’t bring any flashy new features like the January Feature Drop, it packs important improvements under the hood. Check out the changelog below:

  • Camera
    • General improvements for system stability and performance in certain conditions
  • Display & Graphics
    • Fix for display getting corrupted in certain conditions
    • Fix for issue with outer display in certain conditions
  • Framework
    • Fix for stability or performance with certain third party apps

    Wi-Fi

    • General improvements for Wi-Fi stability and performance in certain conditions *[1]

The fix for system stability, performance, display getting corrupted, and Wi-Fi stability applies for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro units. Pixel Fold users are also getting a fix for a bug with the outer display. Last but not the least, a fix for stability and performance issues with third-party apps applies for all Pixel phones getting the update.

All global Pixel units, except the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, are getting the update with the build number UQ1A.240205.002. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are getting it as UQ1A.240205.004. Verizon devices are receiving it as UQ1A.240205.002.A1 and Soft Bank units in Japan are getting it as UQ1A.240205.002.B1.

This update also packs crucial security patches to safeguard your Pixel device. It addresses:

  • 15 vulnerabilities in the Android system, including a critical-severity bug (CVE-2024-0031) that could potentially allow remote code execution.
  • 31 vulnerabilities in components from Qualcomm, Arm, MediaTek, and Unisoc, with six moderate-severity Qualcomm CVEs specifically addressed for Pixel devices.
  • A high-severity bootloader exploit (CVE-2024-22012).

The February update is rolling out gradually to Pixel devices starting with the Pixel 5a 5G and moving upwards. You can check for the update manually by going to Settings > System > System update. Be patient, as it might take a few days to reach your specific device.

For those facing issues with the recent Play System update, this February patch might hold the solution. So, update your Pixel and enjoy a smoother, more secure experience!
