There is a new NVIDIA Shield 2019 update rolling out over the air with a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements, but the rollout is targeting those who have opted in to receive hotfix updates.

Earlier this month, NVIDIA rolled out an invite-only hotfix update to the latest models to address the Match Content Color Space issue that some were experiencing and today, those who opted into the program are now receiving their second hotfix.

You can think of NVIDIA’s hotfix updates as a beta program the company will be using to test early software releases before making the same changes to the stable channel.

On this matter, NVIDIA has the following to say:

HotFix images are not fully certified. The next official release will have all certifications.

Furthermore, once you get into the hotfix program, NVIDIA warns that you won’t be able to leave or even roll back from the hotfix, which is quite baffling, so you should be aware.

The second Shield 2019 update is arriving as build number 32.7.301.43 and as noted earlier, only those on software version 8.1.0+ will be treated to this new firmware.

Once installed, NVIDIA notes that one of the Disney+ issues we highlighted last week – compatibility with the Shield TV 2019 – has been addressed, meaning owners of the set-top boxes can now install the Disney+ app straight from the Google Play Store.

The new update also fixes several other bugs that include audio corruption on DACs that don’t support 16-bit PCM, for instance, the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100. The hotfix also addresses the issue where changing language crashes TV Settings.

Below is the full changelog as shared by NVIDIA:

– Allows Disney+ to be installed from Google Play Store
– Changing language crashes TV Settings
– Google certification issue where SHIELD was not starting Google TV launcher on pressing Home button on 3rd party launcher
– Audio corruption on DACs that don’t support 16 bit PCM like Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100
– SMB server transfer speed slows to 0 then drops during transfer
– Device is not entering in Daydream when Netflix playback is paused
– Changing DV resolution from Display & Sound will not reset DV Menu in Quick Setting

Several Redditors have already received the new hotfix, but the company still warns that there is an issue with the color switch on Sony’s 55-inch 4K Smart TV model XBR55X900F that will be addressed in a future hotfix.

Note that there is still an issue with the color switch while in DV mode on Sony xbr55x900f that is being worked on for a future HotFix image.

If you didn’t opt into the hotfix program, you can rest assured that these bug-fixes will also be pushed to the stable channel pretty soon. We will be keeping an eye on the developments and let you know when the OTA begins rolling out.
