Fresh reports suggest that some Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (Razr+ 2023) and Moto Edge 40 Pro (Edge+ 2023) users have been stuck on the April or May security update for the past few months.

Motorola generally follows a schedule of releasing upgrades for its flagship devices every two months. These updates often include bug fixes, security patches, and sometimes new features or enhancements as well.

However, it seems that some phones are not getting the necessary updates at the expected time.

Reports from multiple Motorola smartphone owners (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) indicate that they have been stuck on the old security patches for an extended period of time.

Understandably, some Razr+ 2023 and Edge+ 2023 users are concerned about their device’s security and functionality since they are missing out on key updates that might possibly enhance the user experience.

Some are unsure whether it’s normal to be three months behind on security updates or if there’s an issue with their phone. Notably, those who own unlocked phones are experiencing such issues as well.

I have not received any security updates since I purchased my Razr +. I have read of people having both May and June updates. What is the latest update I should be receiving for my USA Razr +.

People have time and again tried to restart their smartphones and check for updates, but they are still unable to upgrade to the latest security patch.

Interestingly, a few claim to have received the latest updates a month after the worldwide release. They also contend that their Motorola phones usually receive the bi-monthly security updates after a month.

Furthermore, they speculate that the carrier-specific updates may have been delayed due to some pending bug fixes.

I gave Motorola a chance three months ago.. but now, seeing 1 update = 1 bug (WPA3) with no fix on their flagship 900€ phone, I’m about to regret my choice..

Some users believe that Motorola lacks a clear policy for its flagship devices. They think that their approach is driven by market feedback rather than a predetermined plan.

Those who already own a Motorola phone are also advising others not to purchase it due to bad after-sales service.

However, this is not the first time that Motorola users have faced such issues. It’s noteworthy that they have been experiencing significant delays in the update process ever since the Android 11 upgrade.

And sadly, the situation remains the same until now. Without a doubt, it’s high time that Motorola streamlines the delivery of updates.
