Original story (published on August 28) follows:

Motorola launched the Moto G 5G Plus last month and it’s the company’s best mid-range offering at the moment. The device brings 5G support at a more affordable price than flagship 5G enabled smartphones such as the Motorola Edge+.

But unfortunately, it seems that Motorola Moto G 5G Plus users aren’t able to use 5G as expected. In the UK, users have noticed that their new Motorola G 5G Plus does not support 5G on the Three mobile network.

This is a tad disappointing considering that Three is one of the most popular mobile carriers in the country. And to express their concern, several users have taken to Motorola’s community forum to find answers.

As expected, Motorola is aware of the problem and according to a response from a Motorola Admin, the company is working with Three UK to bring 5G support for the Moto G 5G Plus on the network. Here’s the entire comment from the Admin:

I understand this is frustrating. We are still actively working with 3UK regarding 5G support. At this time, it’s currently not supported. I can’t promise support will come in the future, but we’re pushing for it from our end.

As the Motorola Admin suggests, the company is doing its best to get 5G support to the Moto G 5G Plus. However, it cannot guarantee that the device will pick up support for 5G on the Three network in the UK.

Furthermore, users have also noticed that when connected to a 5G network, the second SIM does not work on the device. This has also been confirmed by a Senior MotoAgent on the company’s forums.

Moreover, the MotoAgent states that Motorola will release an update which will make the second SIM usable when connected to 5G. However, the individual did not divulge any details regarding when users can expect to see the update arrive.

Currently, the phone will disable the 2nd SIM once it is connected to 5G network. We will have improvements to have 2nd SIM usable while it is connected to 5G on future updates.

Therefore, it appears that Moto G 5G Plus users will soon be able to use a 5G SIM and a 4G SIM at the same time on the device. This should be useful for anyone who uses two SIM cards in one device.

Speaking of updates, here’s a list of devices from Motorola that may be eligible for the Android 11 update. Also, you can check out all the devices offered by Three UK that may bag Android 11.
