New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on March 28, 2021) follows:

Xiaomi keeps introducing new features to MIUI with an unabated style. MIUI 12 comes with a ton of features and a highly graphical UI.

These elements are a prominent contributor to the heavy weight of the skin. Therefore, running MIUI 12 or the upcoming versions will have a great toll on the hardware.

Xiaomi’s way of approach is rather a conventional one. Instead of choosing to optimize the skin, the company completely ripped some MIUI 12 features off its devices.

Redmi Note 9 series recently picked up the heat as an MIUI 12 update took away some of MIUI 12’s exciting features.

Frustrated users when sought answers, the company covered it up under the blanket of optimization and stability.

And this doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon as it’s Redmi 9 series’ turn this time.

A user chose to express his disappointment in the community forums where he crossed paths with a moderator who says this is done to the lower end devices to ensure smooth working.

Some features like split screen, floating windows, lock app toggle in recents panel, etc are removed temporarily to optimise the system and reduce UI lags. This is the case with all low end devices like Redmi 9 series, Redmi Note 9, etc. Some features can be accessed via the Security app, but others are removed. Hopefully, the devs will add these back in future updates. Cheers! 🙂

It still remains a mystery as to what all Redmi 9 series devices are the victim of this act by Xiaomi.

After having these features in the first place, removing them now for the sake of optimization makes very little sense.

Although he seems positive about the MIUI 12 missing features’ resurgence on Redmi 9, it is only time that will tell us about these devices’ fate.

This isn’t the only bad news for Redmi 9 series users today. The same moderator goes on to disappoint a Redmi 9A user as he talks about the Android 11 update schedule.

Being one of the lower-end devices, Redmi 9A stands last in the queue for the Android 11 updates. Here’s what the mod has said.

There is no ETA. It should be arriving in this device after updating other flagship and other higher devices. If the software development goes well, it should come soon. Kindly wait. Cheers! 🙂

But as they say, it’s better late than never. Delayed updates shouldn’t be a problem as long as Xiaomi delivers one.
