Ever since the Max app was announced, it seems that the platform has now become a cesspool of confusion and problems for a number of users.

Some are reporting that the ‘shuffle button’ has gone missing, while others are getting an ‘Not available in your region’ error message when trying to access the new Max app.

The list of issues just doesn’t stop here, as we highlighted how the transitioning of the app on Roku TV from HBO Max is also bugging some.

MAX ‘subtitles too big & cut off on screen’

Those who could surpass these hurdles and successfully log into the Max app are now reporting that the subtitles are way too big and cut off on the screen (1,2,3,4,5).

Why did the new HBO Max app change their subtitles. I’m catching up on Succession and this shit is so big and ugly

No idea why HBO max changed to max. And why are the subtitles so massive? @StreamOnMax @HBO not off to a good start

Reports suggest that the majority of users also find the new font and size of the caption ugly (1,2,3). It is only prompting them to request the team for a change.

The way these subtitles are cutting off on the screen is even weirder. For some, it is being partially pushed off (left or right) the screen and for others, it is obstructing everything with half of the screen thus ruining the experience.

It is undeniably frustrating for users who were previously using HBO Max. As a result, some are even asking the developers to let them customize or edit the size, color, or opaqueness of subtitles.

No official word in sight

Unfortunately, Max support team hasn’t yet commented on this problem, but we hope they fix it soon or at least give users the autonomy to change the size of the subtitles.

Though the team recently claimed to be addressing the ‘incorrect subtitles’ issue, it is unclear if this also pertains to the problem with subtitles that are too huge and cut off on screen.

Hi there. We are aware of some programs having incorrect or missing subtitles and are currently working to resolve this. Thank you for your feedback as this helps the process. Please let us know if you find anything else to report.
