Are you a fan of punch hole display? Want to carry a flagship with such design but the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup is out of your budget? Well, you can try out some Kirin SoC equipped Honor phones. Honor View 20 or Honor 20 should be the perfect candidate to suit your needs.

Unlike Galaxy S10 series, Honor uses LCD display panels of these phones. The quality is certainly not inline with Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED, but hey! Don’t forget the price tag!

In terms of software updates, View 20 already got August patches a few days ago. It is time for the Honor 20, as the phone is now getting new software update with bunch of camera related fixes and a new set of security patches.

As you can see, the incremental OTA (build tag 9.1.0.154) of 359 MB brings front camera HDR optimizations and additional system stability fixes. The previous update (build tag 9.1.0.126) also packed numerous improvements related to touch sensitivity, calling, display etc.

On the other hand, Honor 20i also received similar fixes alongside July patches during the first week of August. The midranger variant of Honor 20 comes with a half-circular notch while the underlying SoC is Kirin 710.

In case of Honor 20i, the particular update went live via HiCare app before wider rollout. Eventually the build started hit units via regular software update utility. The staged rollout model helps Honor (Huawei) to keep the probability of accidental damages as low as possible.

Well well well, Honor 20i users are reportedly getting the August patch too – similar to its elder cousin. The internal version number is bumped from 9.1.0.261 to 9.1.0.265, which is a strong indication towards the less weightage of this OTA.

Compared to Honor 20, the newest update for Honor 20i is nothing but a typical security patch (weighs less than 100 MB). Nonetheless, both phones are allegedly entitled to get the upcoming Android 10 based EMUI 10 update, so the current Pie based OTAs are kinda less significant for the owners.
