Huawei started testing EMUI 10 beta based on Android 10 on the P30 and P30 Pro in China in early September 2019. Two months later, the duo is now receiving the stable version of this OS in the same region.

The global Huawei P30 and P30 Pro had to wait about a week before they picked up their first EMUI 10 beta update following the release of the same software to their Chinese counterparts.

Granted, the wait for the stable EMUI 10 update to hit the global P30 duo should last about a week or so from now. This should kick-start a series of EMUI 10 updates for various Huawei devices globally beginning with the Mate 20 series.

EMUI 10 stable update for Huawei P30 and P30 Pro is live in China

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is also working on its own Android 10 updates. While it had been revealed Honor devices will run Magic UI going forward, it seems some like the Honor 10 Lite will still get the new OS with EMUI 10 skin on top.

In fact, if you live in the Middle East and African region (and probably more regions), you can already submit your interest to try EMUI 10 beta on your Honor 10 Lite handset. The recruitment process has been ongoing for a week now and ends this Saturday, November 16.

Of worth noting is that those in China already joined the EMUI 10 beta program on their Honor 10 Lite sets.

To get into the program, your Honor 10 Lite must be installed with EMUI 9.1.0.273 (C185E8R1P11) – the C185 represents the Middle East and African region. Again, it’s likely the EMUI 10 beta update is available in more regions than just the MEA.

October security update for the Indian Honor 10 Lite

As noted, its likely folks in India will also get a chance to try the Honor 10 Lite EMUI 10 beta update, but until then, there is a minor software update available to download as EMUI 9.1.0.282 (C675E14R1P12) – the C675 is for the Indian region.

The OTA weighs in at 114MB and as per the changelog, you get a new October 2019 security patch besides the usual bug fixes and system-wide performance optimizations.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
