Samsung is gearing up to release the stable One UI 3.0 (Android 11) update as the public betas have been out for the Galaxy S20 series for quite some time now.

However, there is a crucial requirement for every stable Android OS update and beta versions usually do not include it.

The Google Play Protect certification or CTS certification is usually skipped by Android OEMs during the beta testing phase.

But things seem to be changing, with Asus supposedly looking to certify the next ZenFone 6 beta update on Android 11. More on that here.

Apparently, it appears Samsung has moved ahead of Asus in that direction as the latest Galaxy S20 One UI 3.0 beta update includes CTS or Google Play Protect certification.

The information comes from Reddit where a user has shared the details of their Galaxy S20 and Play Protect certification.

The “Device is certified” tag in the above screenshot clearly indicates that Samsung has added CTS certification to the latest Galaxy S20 Android 11 beta.

This means that those on the One UI 3.0 beta version might be allowed to install financial and banking apps but that is not the case as the likes of Google Pay are still not working.

However, Netflix can now be officially installed and updated from Google Play Store which further eliminates the need for workarounds involving sideloading of APKs.

Moreover, the addition of CTS or Google Play Protect certification suggests that the Galaxy S20 One UI 3.0 stable update rollout is imminent.

While Samsung has not provided a specific release date, OEMs typically apply for CTS certification once the stable version is about ready.

This means that users of the Galaxy S20 might start receiving the stable Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update in the near future.

Samsung has been striving to be at the top of its game with such developments while its three major OS updates strategy could be a game changer as well. More on that here and here.

That said, we will keep tracking the development of One UI 3.0 and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
