Elden Ring, FromSoftware latest ‘Souls-like’ game, has been receiving a lot of praise since its release. The gameplay mechanics, the setting, variety of skills and weapons are among its main attractions.

However, some Elden Ring are also facing some issues since their release. Here we have covered many of the bugs reported by players in the last few weeks (1, 2, 3, 4).

Currently, there is an inventory issue where the Elden Ring Somber Smithing Stone is disappearing or not showing for many.

The Elden Ring Somber Smithing Stone is basically an ‘Upgrade Material’ for weapons and armor. So, it’s a very valuable item for players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

But, according to multiple reports, the Elden Ring Somber Smithing Stone is suddenly disappearing from Elden Ring inventory, with no apparent explanation (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

So I was trying to get enough somber smithing stone 8 to upgrade my +22 weapon to +23 and I had 3 out of the four needed, I acquired another one and then I go to the blacksmith to upgrade it. Low and behold I still only have three.

What a fucking crock of shit. I know that I can get infinite from the husks once i get the bell bearing but I’d have been able to upgrade it right now.

Smithing stones disappearing bug

I picked up two level 5 somber smithing stones. I had a trail I followed, I started by purchasing the first 4 from Iji, then headed to volcano manor to get 5 -7, then to Caelid for 8 and 9. Every single one shows up in my inventory except for the level 5 stones.

I want to level up my weapon to level 9, I even spent hours farming runes, sadly, cannot do anything because I am stuck at level 4 since the level 5 stone just disappeared Please help, I am thinking of just quitting the game.

It’s worth pointing out that this isn’t the first time Elden Ring players are facing inventory issues involving missing items.

Epic Games is aware, temporary workaround

At the moment, there is no official acknowledgment on the issue from the developers. But fortunately, some players managed to find a workaround that helps mitigate it while waiting for an official fix:

Found the fix. It’s weird. Apparently the shop inventories have something to do with being in online mode. I always try and play offline by default. I turned online on and reloaded the save files and the stones were in the shop inventories. I went back to the main menu and turn online mode off again and reload the save file, they disappear from the inventory. After doing this back and forth several times the stones finally started appearing in the shop inventory while I was offline.
