Now, it appears that a troublesome issue is plaguing console players during the character creation process.
Diablo 4 crashing on ‘Character Creation’ screen
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Diablo 4 players are experiencing an issue where the game keeps crashing on the ‘Character Creation’ screen.
And as per the allegations, this happens whenever one tries to initiate the creation of a new seasonal character. Some have witnessed crashes when entering into the game world as well.
Also, they are getting stuck on the loading screen while trying to access certain dungeons or quests.
In addition to this, a few gamers cannot sign into the game after creating a new character and are unable to move past the ‘Queued for Game – Start Game Pending’ screen in some instances.
A Xbox owner claims to be getting a message stating that they need to finish the campaign before they can proceed with the new character creation.
To their surprise, this error appears even when they have already completed it.
The game is crashing 100% of the attempts to create a new character on Ps5. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Also, does anyone know if the devs have confirmed this to be a known issue?

Whenever I get to the end of character creation to make a seasonal character, it says I have to complete the campaign first. This is confusing considering that my first character was my lvl 60 Necro who I got to WT4 and completed the campaigns with.

Notably, the issue affects players across multiple platforms and has been persistent for the past few days. Some have even tried logging in with their primary character into non-seasonal content, but to no avail.

Fortunately, the Blizzard support team is aware of this issue and is currently investigating it. However, no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided.
Potential workaround
Luckily, we have come across some workarounds that might help solve your problem.
Firstly, it is recommended that you try disabling ‘Cross-Network Play’ and ‘Cross-Network Communication’ from the in-game settings and restarting the game.
Alternatively, you can try clicking on the start game button on the character creation screen and entering the seasonal realm.
As a last resort, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game on your device.
