Brave just crossed 130.77 million monthly active users in October, marking the first time the privacy browser has ever cleared the 130 million mark. Co-founder and CEO Brendan Eich shared the fresh numbers on X, showing that monthly growth actually sped up to 1.9% compared to September’s 1.6% bump.
The official data shows daily usage of the browser is also climbing alongside the monthly numbers. Peak DAUs hit a record 55.42 million, while the 28-day average landed at 54.19 million, with a massive 7.26 billion minutes of daily browsing time.
If you have been keeping up with our monthly coverage, you know this wave has been building for a good while now. Back in August, the browser clocked 126 million monthly users after somehow dodging the typical summer traffic slump in July.
A lot of the people who originally downloaded the app during the June World Cup surge or right after Google started forcing heavy AI changes into search never actually left. If anything, it shows that Brave can make for a good alternative to any mainstream browser out there.
But moving on from the browser, the company’s search engine is also seeing positive growth. It pulled in 2.71 billion queries across October and hit a single-day record of 91.77 million searches on October 25, which is its first time ever crossing the 90 million daily mark.
Even more interesting is that 10.1% of all those monthly searches came from people who are not even using the Brave browser. That share has been creeping up from around 8% over the summer, meaning plenty of folks on Chrome or Safari are actively going out of their way to use Brave Search on its own.
Towards the end of his thread, Eich talked about how the company pays the bills and noted that “We get by on search API + ads, browser ads, premium products, crypto deals.” He also plugged Brave Origin as a free option on Linux while the team works on similar setups for Graphene and F-Droid, before wrapping up with a simple “Many thanks to our users!”
