Brave has officially confirmed that it is working on an update to properly optimize its iOS browser for the new foldable iPhone Duo.

This confirmation came after the popular X account @Pirate_Nation shared a short clip showing how weird the app looks and behaves on the iPhone Duo, especially when in split-screen mode and when switching between portrait and landscape orientations. You can check out that video below:

“Ey @brave I think it’s time to update the brave app for the iphone duo, it really looks weird,” the user pointed out in their post.

Instead of ignoring the issue, it’s nice to see Brave’s official account respond directly in the thread. The team said, “We’re working on it 🙂” without sharing an exact release date just yet.

If you look closely at the video shared, you can see that Brave feels cramped and leaves thick black bars on the side, almost like it does not know how to fill out the squarish foldable display properly.

To be fair, the iPhone Duo is Apple’s very first foldable phone, so plenty of third-party apps are still playing catch-up with its wide 7.6-inch inner screen and how iOS 27 handles side-by-side windows.

Still, seeing the team acknowledge the problem so quickly is a good sign, especially since Brave CEO Brendan Eich recently admitted that Apple integration issues like broken spellcheck and finicky password autofill have been a headache for users trying to ditch Safari.

Over the past few weeks, the company has actually been pretty busy ironing out rough edges on iPhones, and Brave for iOS finally added background file downloads in version 1.97, so your transfers do not randomly die the second you swipe back to your home screen.

We also learned a few days ago that Brave has a Blink-powered iOS browser running internally, though Apple’s strict App Store rules around WebKit mean most of us probably will not get our hands on that build anytime soon.

PiunikaWeb’s Take

When you drop a small fortune on a foldable phone like the iPhone Duo, the last thing you want is your daily browser looking like a stretched-out mess when you try running two apps side by side. Because the iPhone Duo switches between a smaller outer screen and a tablet-sized inner display, apps have to dynamically adjust their toolbars and page layouts on the fly, which clearly trips up Brave right now if you snap it next to another window. Until the dedicated patch rolls out on the App Store, your best bet on the inner screen is running Brave in full-screen mode or switching websites to their desktop view from the bottom menu so the layout does not feel so boxed in.
