Dia v1.47.1 brings Outlook calendar support and in-app tool requests

The latest Dia update on macOS brings subtle improvements to the integration of AI tools in the browser, and there are some minor bug fixes. It’s not a feature-heavy release this time around, probably because the interesting additions are being saved for the rest of the final quarter of this year.

I’ve typed this sentence a million times, but once again, the official Release Notes contain absolutely nothing noteworthy. They’ve added this painting, and then scrolling down doesn’t reveal a single new addition.

Fortunately, u/JaceThings on Reddit has compiled an elaborate, unofficial changelog that summarizes the important changes. You can view a screenshot of the post below.

The latest version is v1.47.1, and you can directly click on Dia -> Check for updates from the menu bar on your Mac. It was immediately available for download, as expected.

Here’s a summary of the important additions, in simpler terms:

1. Outlook and Teams now show up in Live Calendar: While Dia already had a live calendar view, the integration was only with Google. This update integrates Outlook and Teams pages, so Microsoft meetings can show in real time too.
2. You can request a new app/tool from Dia: Dia connects to work apps such as Slack or Notion, and now you have the option to request other tools. The browser lists the 400 top SaaS apps. This only requests the tool and doesn’t integrate it directly.
3. Tabs that you open while “peeking” at a group no longer vanish.
4. Bookmark bar: If you keep Tab Groups in the Bookmarks bar, the groups will now appear when you right-click or open Bookmarks.
5. Chat attachment suggestions say which Profile they belong to.
6. PiP issue fix: Earlier, there was an issue with the PiP of Google Meet or YouTube. If you were in a Picture-in-Picture window and then switched Dia profiles, PiP sometimes failed to kick in. That has now been fixed.
7. New shortcut: Group the tabs you already selected. Use Control + Command + N, and Dia will make a new Tab Group from the tabs you’ve selected. It’s similar to what Finder does.

The previous update also wasn’t big on features, but included subtle refinements.

These minor updates lately are probably a result of The Browser Company being busy with other Dia-related ventures. For example, there was a recent leak suggesting that an iOS version is near. An “Agentic” Dia is slated for later this fall, and there’s even the Windows public release, which we detailed in previous coverage.
