Zen Browser has officially turned two years old, and the team used the occasion to look back at its biggest milestones while also teasing something much bigger that’s still under wraps.

In a post shared on the Zen Browser subreddit, the developers celebrated what has been a busy year for the open source browser. They highlighted several major features that landed over the past 12 months, including Live Folders, Space Routing, Boosts, and the browser’s rapid growth within the community.

One of the biggest announcements wasn’t about what has already shipped, though. The team revealed that it’s been working on a “massive change” since August 2025 and said users should expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks or months. No other details were shared, so it’s anyone’s guess what the feature could be.

The post also mentions that sync support is coming “very very soon,” followed by a Library feature shortly after. If you’ve been following Zen closely, that timeline lines up with recent development builds. We recently reported that device sync has already started showing up in the latest Twilight builds, suggesting the feature is getting close to a wider rollout. You can read more about that here.

Zen also took the opportunity to highlight some of the features that have helped shape the browser over the last year. Live Folders can automatically surface content like news feeds, blog posts, and GitHub pull requests inside the sidebar. Space Routing lets users automatically open websites in specific workspaces, making it easier to keep personal and work browsing separate. We covered that feature when it first arrived back in June.

The browser has also continued to gain momentum. Zen says it crossed 500,000 weekly downloads over the past year and now has more than 43,000 GitHub stars. A little over a month ago, we also covered another major milestone after the browser passed 500,000 users, showing just how quickly its community has grown despite being a relatively new project.

For now, there’s still a lot we don’t know. Sync looks close, the Library feature is next in line, and this teased change could end up being the biggest shift Zen has made so far. Until the team shares more, users will just have to wait and see what they’ve been quietly building behind the scenes.

I cover fast-moving stories across apps, online platforms, and everyday tech — phones, wearables, consoles, and whatever else people are fighting with this week. Bugs, rollouts, scams, policy enforcement, and the occasional internet-culture rabbit hole are all fair game. My goal is simple — make confusing tech news readable.
