Update 11/05/26 – 05:50 pm (IST): Samsung has now kicked off the wider global rollout of stable One UI 8.5 after its initial debut in South Korea on May 6. The update is now reaching the Galaxy S25 series in the US, India, and other markets, with SamMobile reporting that the USA is the second country to get it as part of today’s broader expansion.

For Galaxy S25 users in the US, the update carries build number S93*SQU9CZDP and is around 4.4GB for phones still on One UI 8.0, while beta users get a much smaller package. Samsung has also expanded the rollout to the Galaxy S25 FE, suggesting the company is quickly widening availability beyond the flagship trio.

Samsung has also started pushing stable One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy S24 series in South Korea, where the update is over 4GB and arrives with firmware version S92xNKSU5DZOP. The Galaxy S24 FE has now joined the rollout as well in South Korea with firmware version S721NKSUBDZDP, and other markets are expected to follow in the coming days.

The rollout is spreading across Samsung’s foldables too, with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE getting the update globally, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has started receiving it in more regions and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has picked it up in South Korea. Across these devices, One UI 8.5 brings a redesigned Quick Panel, refreshed app tab styling, upgraded Galaxy AI tools, and AirDrop-like file sharing compatibility through Quick Share.

Update 06/05/26 – 03:15 pm (IST): The Galaxy S25 Ultra has started receiving the stable One UI 8.5 update in South Korea, specifically to the beta testers. Posts on Reddit show the changelog, and the update is around 580MB in size.

Samsung has also specified that the beta program for One UI 8.5 on the S25 Ultra has ended, and that new feedback through beta communication channels will no longer be accepted.

So, as expected, Samsung has released the update on May 6, after the two major holidays in South Korea had passed.

Original article published on May 4, 2026, follows:

Samsung was expected to release the One UI 8.5 update today, but recent developments suggest that the update might not even go live this week.

According to a post from Galaxy Updates on X, Samsung responded to a user, saying that the One UI 8.5 update may not be released today. Support goes on to mention that it’s difficult to provide an accurate schedule, and that no official announcements have been made so far. Internal changes regarding supported models and the release schedule may occur.

Samsung One UI 8.5 has been postponed again.

A post from SammyFans explains how Samsung has missed the April 30 release window for One UI 8.5 in Korea, and that May 4 might be missed as well.

The reason seems fairly straightforward: April 30 (the previous confirmed release date by a Samsung Moderator) was likely skipped due to Labour Day (May Day) on May 1, and May 5 is Children’s Day in South Korea. The company likely doesn’t want to schedule major releases around holidays. Some users are speculating May 6 as the next potential release date, since the holidays would end by then.

Now, it’s contradictory to see a Samsung Moderator claiming that April 30 was the official release date, but Samsung Support claiming that “nothing official is out yet,” so I’m assuming there’s an internal confusion regarding the release dates. A lot of people doubt that the moderators even have official information from South Korea, which is a valid concern.

As expected, users are very annoyed with this, calling it Samsung’s “longest beta program in history.” It has been nearly 5 months since it went into beta, and issues such as the WebView Regression bug for Microsoft apps may have caused further delays. This isn’t the experience that people paid $2000 for, and they’ve made it clear.

What if you’re on the Galaxy S24 series? A reply from a Community Moderator claims that Samsung would release the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S24 series “shortly after” the S25 series. Additionally, if you’re on the S24 FE, the third beta of One UI 8.5 even added a lot of AI features. You can read about that here.

In summary:

  1. Samsung has missed the targeted release date of April 30 for One UI 8.5 and might miss May 4.
  2. The company could release the update on May 6.
  3. There’s no official timeline or clarification from Samsung regarding the release dates.
  4. The Galaxy S24 series will get the update shortly after the Galaxy S25 series.

I think Samsung would face a lot less criticism if it just posted a clarification publicly, with a rough release window. Do keep an eye out for any new posts on official Samsung blogs and the community, and the Samsung Members app, in case something shows up.
