why are chat boxes so weird on console now?

Xbox players seem to be running into a weird bug where the bubble chat messages balloon to ridiculous sizes or disappear completely, depending on the camera angle.
It seems like the problem popped up after a recent Roblox update landed on consoles, and it affects both Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X systems.
Multiple users on the RobloxHelp sub have reported the same behavior. One player noted how chat bubbles get “comically large” when rotating the camera vertically, while another angle makes them vanish entirely. They even shared a video that you can check out in the embed below:
Another thread shows screenshots of the oversized chat taking up a massive chunk of the screen. Others in the comments also confirmed the same size shifting glitch when the camera moves around.
Judging by these reports that have surfaced, the issue is isolated to Xbox hardware. A post on the developer forum specifically flags Xbox Series S and Series X consoles, noting that billboard GUIs like chat bubbles get weirdly over-scaled during vertical camera rotation. PlayStation 5 players reportedly aren’t seeing the same bug.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that it impacts more than just chat bubbles. Players mention that floating text, custom nametags, and other billboard UI elements are also breaking in similar ways.
Some report the text becoming pixelated or completely unreadable at certain camera angles. Games with lots of floating UI elements like Slap Battles are especially hard to play right now.
One user< tried reinstalling and restarting their console, but the problem persisted. Others noted that just a few days ago, console players dealt with a different chat bug where the chat box couldn't be hidden at all. The pattern of console-specific issues has players questioning whether Roblox is prioritizing PC development over other platforms. This console bug adds to a rough stretch for Roblox. The platform recently announced the removal of classic faces and heads in favor of dynamic versions, sparking backlash from players who preferred the original look. Fears about R6 avatar removal also rattled the community before Roblox confirmed R6 avatars are staying. The billboard scaling issue appears to be an engine-level problem, meaning individual developers can’t patch it themselves.
For now, Xbox users are stuck hoping Roblox addresses the scaling issue quickly. Some have found that specific camera positions minimize the problem, but there’s no real workaround until Roblox pushes an update.
