Update 27/01/26 – 12:04 pm (IST): CapCut officially acknowledged the ongoing outage with a post on X. They blame a data center power outage for the disruption. The company also says, “You may notice bugs, slower load times, or timed-out requests when editing or exporting content. Your data and projects are safe. We’ll make sure that impacted users are appropriately supported once service is fully restored.”

The statement matches the explanation from the TikTok US account, which we highlighted earlier today.

A TikTok employee on the company’s Gaming Creator Program server (via) also previously confirmed that the power outage was impacting TikTok and other “other apps we operate.”

Unfortunately, there’s no ETA for a fix.

It seems like TikTok’s CapCut app is undergoing a major outage that has persisted for several hours. Users have been complaining about service disruptions that started early morning on January 25, 2026, with the app still experiencing issues over 17 hours later.

Reports have been popping up on Reddit and X throughout the day. Users say they can’t access basic features, export videos, or even load their account pages. One Reddit user posted that the outage began around 3 AM, with both the website and desktop app completely non-functional.

Pro subscribers are particularly frustrated. Multiple users report the app suddenly claims they don’t have Pro access despite active paid subscriptions. One commenter said they just purchased Pro before the crash and now can’t use any premium features. Others mention getting locked out after uninstalling and trying to reinstall the app.

The mobile app appears partially functional for some users, but key features like text editing, transitions, music, and effects aren’t loading properly. Export functionality is broken across platforms. Several users reported error messages saying “network error” or “our system is being upgraded, try again later” when trying to render videos.

Despite the problem going on for hours, CapCut hasn’t yet made any public statements regarding the outage, though some users do see the error saying that the systems are being upgraded. So it’s unclear how long it’ll take for the service to be restored.

That said, even TikTok had been facing login issues for hours. Those problems were later resolved, but many users are still noticing problems with the FYP recommendations, and many creators are seeing zero views on their uploads.

This points to backend problems with TikTok’s servers, which are also impacting CapCut. Users looking for temporary workarounds have turned to alternatives like Splice and OpenShot while waiting for CapCut to come back online.

We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will update the article accordingly.
