A recent post on Reddit caught my attention. This post claims to show off an alleged new yellow color of the upcoming Google Pixel 9 Pro. While redditors are split in two camps over it, I think it’s a bold new color. Last year’s standout color was the Pixel 8 Pro’s ‘Bay Blue’. The Pixel 7 Pro rocked a new ‘Hazel’ color. The Pixel 6 series on the other hand had a bunch of cool color options to pick from. However, Pixel phones haven’t had a single bright yellow color option yet. So if (big IF) the leak is accurate, the Pixel 9 Pro will be the first Pixel to sport a yellow variant.

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 comes with a washed-out yellow color variant. In fact, most OEMs seem to be “running out of ink” by the way smartphones have been adopting color variants with the saturation slider pulled down to the minimum. So it’s refreshing to see that the Pixel 9 Pro won’t have the desaturated yellow and instead will be bright and in-your-face. Some are already calling it the “Minion” color. And as a Minion fan myself, the resemblance is indeed uncanny.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, I couldn’t confirm the reliability or accuracy of the leak. If a reliable source backs up the rumor, then we can pretty much guarantee we’ll see a yellow Pixel 9 Pro. Until then, we wait. The Pixel 9 series is expected to launch alongside the Pixel Fold 2 around October this year. You can head here to check out everything we know about Google’s upcoming flagships.
