Google’s highly-anticipated Pixel Fold 2 is generating a buzz, with new rumors pointing towards larger displays for both the inner and outer screens. While official specifications are still under wraps, industry analyst Ross Young (DSCC) offers some potential insights into the foldable’s upgraded screen real estate.

According to Young, the Pixel Fold 2 could feature a significant bump in display size. The foldable’s main internal display might measure approximately 8.02 inches, a noticeable step up from the original Pixel Fold’s 7.6-inch panel. The cover display is also rumored to get a boost to 6.29 inches, larger than its predecessor’s 5.8-inch screen.

If accurate, this puts the Pixel Fold 2 in direct competition with some of the biggest foldable phones on the market, including the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. The increased screen size could offer enhanced multitasking, media consumption, and overall productivity for users.

Further fueling the rumors, Young suggests that panel production for the Pixel Fold 2’s displays is set to begin in April. This information could hint at a possible fall 2024 launch window, potentially aligning with the Pixel 9 series unveiling.

Earlier rumors did indicate that the Pixel Fold 2 might arrive later in the year due to Google’s decision to launch it with the Tensor G4. So this information by Young does add weight to the launch window speculation. Of course, a June launch still isn’t out of the question.

Beyond the display rumors, recent leaks suggest the Pixel Fold 2 may sport a revised design with a bulkier camera module compared to the Pixel 8-inspired look of the original. As mentioned above, it’s expected to be powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 processor, offering upgraded performance and AI capabilities.

While these remain largely rumors at this stage, the potential for larger displays adds to the growing anticipation surrounding the Pixel Fold 2. Google’s foldable could offer a more immersive and productive experience, solidifying its position in the burgeoning foldable market.
