Google continues its efforts to increase interest in its Pixel phones through collaborations with well-known figures from different fields. Previously, Google Canada created a series of ads with Toronto Raptors’ Scott Barnes and Jack Armstrong, showing some of the best features in the Pixel 8 series.

Now, Google US is making a similar move, collaborating with F1 (Formula 1) drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri on an ad whose focus is the ‘Magic Eraser’ feature, also present on the Pixel 8 Pro.

‘Magic Eraser’ is not an exclusive feature of the Pixel 8 series, since it is even present on devices from other brands if the user has the Google Photos app and pays for some available plan. However, the exclusive features of the Pixel 8 Pro include an improved version of the feature, working better and removing elements more effectively.

The ad called ‘Race To The Finish’ is 1:15 long and shows the two McLaren drivers competing to see who can first use the Google Pixel 8 Pro ‘Magic Eraser’ feature to remove the other driver from a picture. Whoever manages to do it first will keep the Pixel 8 Pro.

The ad seeks to promote not only the ‘Magic Eraser’ capabilities, but its ease of use too. After all, it focuses on a ‘speed test’, showing the results you can achieve with just a few taps. Also, it is a product of the partnership between Google and McLaren (since 2022) which includes the integration of the Android, Chrome, and Google logos on race suits and vehicles.

Recent Google collaborations promoting the Pixel 8 series

Google seems to be relying on collaborations with important sports figures and institutions to increase interest in their devices. In addition to the collaboration with Toronto Raptors’ Scott Barnes mentioned above, the company also partnered in the UK with Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC, two of the most popular teams in the Premier League.

However, they are not limited to these types of collaborations, as they also partnered with Odeon Cinemas in the United Kingdom for a special ‘pre-movie’ ad, also starring the Pixel 8 series and another of its special features. Finally, Google Japan will hold together with LEGO the ‘Google Pixel Playground’ event in the coming days.
