Google has been all over UK football, and the latest in the growing list of marketing efforts the company is making towards popularizing the various AI camera abilities of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro now features Arsenal Women.

The Pixel 8 ad shared on the team’s various social media pages aims to showcase the Best Take feature. It follows Arsenal Women players to their training ground during an official team photo session. Of course, it’s unlikely that the Pixel 8 was used for the entire photo session. But in the middle of the session, The Three Lionesses’ Beth Mead thought it was the perfect selfie time with her friends, and she pulled out a Pixel 8 to capture the moment.

For anyone who has played any kind of sport, you sure know how cheeky players can get around each other. And this is evident in the funny faces the players made in the selfie. If you haven’t, well, see for yourself in the image below.

As you can see, it’s never easy to get everyone to look at the camera at the same time when taking a group photo. The person taking the photo might end up the only one looking at the camera, with others looking away, eyes closed or even making funny faces. Typically, the solution to this would be to keep taking more selfies until you nail it. But this can be a cumbersome process, which is where the Pixel 8 Best Take feature comes in.

In the video, you can see the Best Take feature in action. After capturing several selfies in which none of the faces were aligned perfectly, Mead opens Google Photos app and taps on one of the photos. From here, she went to Edit > Tools > Best Take > tapped the faces and various facial expressions to preview them and then saved a copy. Below is a side by side look at the selfies before (left/top) and after (right/bottom) editing with Best Take on the Pixel 8.

Besides Arsenal Women, Google has also partnered with senior Arsenal men, Liverpool men and women, as well as The FA’s Three Lions and Lionesses. This is a long-term partnership that the Google Pixel team hopes will bring fans closer to the beautiful game, and for sure, it seems to be happening.
