Both Messenger and Facebook are usually available most of the time. However, there are also occasions where there are server problems or direct outages.

With that in mind, we will be following up on every outage or server downtime affecting Facebook and Messenger and update this tracker so that you know when the apps are down or not working throughout 2023.

Following are some instructions that’ll help you go through this tracker easily:

  • This is a text-only tracker that focuses on highlighting the incidents of outage and/ the service in question going down or becoming temporarily dysfunctional for some reason.
  • The outage reports highlighted in this tracker are based on user reports on social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit, along with Downdetector – a platform that monitors real-time problems and outages in popular services.
  • The time of the update is mentioned in IST and is in 24-hour format. Also note, the text updates will show up in ascending order with the latest coming at the bottom.

    Incidents of service outage

    Update 8 [Oct. 20; 7:47]: Facebook is currently down or not working, multiple reports can be seen on DownDetector.

    Update 7 [Oct. 17; 7:47]: Facebook services are currently down or not working for some, the users see ‘no post to display’ message in the main feed.

    a. [12:09]: Lack of recent reports suggest that the outage has been resolved.

    a. [15:49]: The recent outage appears to have been fixed as there are no recent reports.

    Update 6 [Sep. 7; 17:35]: Some users unable to log in to the app.

    a. [18:00]: Messenger service now working as expected.

    Update 5 [Jul. 7; 15:45]: Users again unable to send images via Messenger.

    Update 4 [Jun. 16; 10:04]: Messenger messages not sending or loading.

    a. [14:05]: Messenger service already working correctly.

    Update 3 [May 3; 08:45]: Latest Messenger outage has been fixed.

    Update 2 [May 2; 16:26]: New Messenger outage reported.

    Update 1 [Feb. 10; 08:30]: Messenger service experiencing outage.

    a. [10:00]: Service back up and working correctly.
