Facebook login gateway down or not working (throws error code 2), issue impacts many services

Facebook is one of the biggest social networks in the world. The platform has grown more and more over time and has been gaining several useful features.

However, currently many users are facing an issue where the Facebook login gateway is down or not working. Apparently, they are unable to access services, games or apps using their Facebook account due to error code 2.

According to multiple reports, users of services and games accessed through their Facebook accounts are unable to log into their accounts due to the ‘error code 2’ message.

Ive been attempting to log into niantic wayfarer over the last 10 minutes or so and it wont let me login through either facebook or gmail. When I try logging in with facebook it says I need a email linked to the account even tho I have a email linked already.

@PokemonGoApp I’m having problems accessing my account (via facebook) all morning as it says it can’t authenticate login. Is this a widespread issue or just unlucky old me?

The successful game PUBG (Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds) is one of those affected by the issue. There are also other very popular ones like Pokemon Go, Pikmin Bloom, etc.

Niantic (Pokemon Go developers) is one of the companies whose apps or games implement the Facebook login gateway. The company has been receiving multiple reports about the situation.

However, Niantic has confirmed that the issue is the fault of the Facebook login gateway and not theirs.

So, affected users can only wait for Facebook to solve the problem on their side. But, there is no official acknowledgment on the issue from Facebook (Meta) yet.
