Google Drive backup not working or disappeared for some Android users, issue allegedly being looked into

Google Drive is undoubtedly one of the most preferred cloud storage services that provide customers with safe and secure access to their information.

Launched in 2012, the service has been running smoothly but it is also frequented by various bugs and issues. For instance, we previously highlighted the sorting bug and a ‘Failed – network error’ had also come to light.

Google Drive backup not working for Android users

Some Android users (1,2,3,4) have now been reporting that Google Drive backup is not working or is disappearing for them on their respective devices.

On my Android phone, Google backup has stopped working
In my Google Drive app, it says – “Your device is not backed up”. I checked my Google-one app. Since yesterday, it says – “backup in progress”

Reports indicate that users are unable to view or the backups are not visible on the Google One app as well. To add to the frustration, this has been going on for a week now.

It’s been alleged by one of the users that they were unable to back up after the March update. In fact, those using Google One constantly encounter the annoying error message ‘backup is in progress’.

Moreover, it seems that the issue is account-specific as when a user tried running a backup via a different account, it worked.

There hasn’t been any official acknowledgment so far, but the team is allegedly working on it.

Unfortunately, we haven’t come across any potential workaround that can help resolve the issue temporarily.
