New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 11, 2023) follows:
‘Google’ is probably the most popular and well-known search engine on the internet. Over the years, the tool has gained more capabilities and features, such as Google Image Search.
Google Image Search allows users to reverse-search for pictures or websites using other pictures as the search base instead of words. It usually works reliably, though it hasn’t been entirely problem-free (1, 2).
Now, some Google Image Search users report that the tool is only showing one result and throwing the ‘Looks like you’ve reached the end’ message.
Google Image Search shows only one result and the ‘Looks like you’ve reached the end’ message
According to multiple reports, some Google Image Search users are facing an issue where their searches only return one result. The rest of the UI displays the ‘Looks like you’ve reached the end’ message.
ALL Google Image searches only return a single result
All of the Google Image searches I enter, even ones like “art”, or “pictures”, only return a single image result, along with a blank space at the bottom that when clicked, turns into the “Looks like you’ve reached the end” message.

How do I get Google Image Search to show more than one image?
Whenever I search something in Google, and click on images for that search, only one image appears with the text next to it “Looks like you’ve reached the end.”

The problem seems to be affecting logged in accounts and all platforms, including the Google desktop website and mobile app. However, Google Image Search seems to work fine in incognito mode or logged out.
This is the case in the Android app and Chrome under my account, but not in incognito.

Also, the bug doesn’t seem to be exactly new to the tool. There are reports from more than two years ago that describe similar situations (1, 2), so it could be a problem that appears from time to time.
Issue escalated for investigation
According to a Google Product Expert, the issue has already been escalated to Google for investigation. For now, affected users will have to wait for further updates on the issue in the future.
We will be monitoring the situation to update this story as events unfold.
Update 1 (January 12, 2023)
01:54 pm (IST): One of those affected has confirmed that the issue with image search got automatically resolved for them.
Furthermore, a user has suggested that image search is working fine in the incognito mode and on other browsers such as MS Edge & Firefox.
Same issue, both on PC and my cell chrome browsers only. Edge and firefox work fine, as does incognito mode. (Source)
