[Updated] Samsung Galaxy S20+ users troubled with green or purple line on screen after One UI 4.0 (Android 12) update, still no fix in sight

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy S20 series in January this year.

But soon after, users said bugs such as auto-rotate not working and glitched Bluetooth connectivity have ruined their overall experience.

And as if the aforementioned issues weren’t enough, Samsung Galaxy S20+ users who recently upgraded their devices to One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 say they are seeing a green or purple line on the screen (1,2,3,4,5)

Many are frustrated by the issue since the line spans across the length of the screen. Some say they went to the service center to get the problem fixed and were informed that it’s a hardware issue that allegedly requires the display to be replaced.

Moreover, factory resetting the device does not seem to help fix the issue. You can see in the image below what the green or purple line looks like after Galaxy S20+ users updated to One UI 4.0 based on Android 12.

I did purchase the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus last year on 1st November 2020. I did have care plus plan which got expired on last 8th November 2021. Suddenly today WITHOUT any physical or liquid damage my display got one vertical green line right in the middle of my display. I did some research and find out that this is not just me lots of your customers are facing this same issue.

Same sh*t happened to my phone. When i was using the phone, the display faded and suddenly a green vertical line came .I have never dropped this phone. Luckily I had warranty so Samsung covered the charges. Otherwise it would have been a 300$ job. I believe Samsung does this on purpose so that existing flagship users like us upgrade to newer ones.

Unfortunately, Samsung is yet to acknowledge or comment on the issue where some Galaxy S20+ owners are getting a green or purple line spanning across the length of their screen after updating to One UI 4.0.

While most of the reports are from Galaxy S20+ users, the problem might affect other S20 models as well.

10:16 am (IST): Users are now reporting that this issue still persists. Moreover, the newest update has triggered the problem for some who were not having it before.

10:03 am (IST): This issue has received nearly 4000 signatures on Change.org petition and users are demanding for a fix. However, Samsung is yet to acknowledge it.

05:25 pm (IST): Samsung Galaxy S20 users affected by ‘green line on display’ bug are now getting free one-time screen replacement in Vietnam.

04:59 pm (IST): Fresh reports (1, 2) suggest that the issue where users are seeing green line on display still persists for some users. Moreover, some iPhone users are also affected by the same issue.
