COD: Vanguard is the latest installment in Activision’s action war saga. This game is set again in the events that occurred during the second world war for its argument.
Having said the above, Vanguard is one of the most talked about names when it comes to reporting bugs/glitches and issues. Here we have covered multiple reported errors since its release (1, 2, 3, 4).
One of the issues that has raised the most complaints among COD Vanguard players is the packet burst issue. This results in noticeable performance drops during online matches (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).
COD Vanguard pack burst: a long-term issue
Reports on the COD Vanguard Packet Burst Issue describe different situations. However, they can all be summed up as there is noticeable performance loss and lag in multiplayer mode (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

When playing I get constant packet burst and lag, anytime i challenge someone the red warnings pop up and lag me out meaning I never know if I have won the gun fight until my game catches up.

In addition to the above, nothing that COD: Vanguard players do could serve to resolve the packet burst issue. This is because it could be linked to some accounts in particular, as the following report suggests:

So I’ve been doing everything possible to try and fix the packer burst issue in warzone that began for me, back in Season 5 during CW life cycle.
Nothing I did seemed to fix it. I’ve done it all.

Nothing worked. Until I decided to create a new PSN Account and a new Activision account and what do you know, no more packet bursts on warzone.
The issue is tied to the account, I don’t know how but it is. We need to make Activision aware of this. And it’s really unfortunate that all my content from season passes is on my main Activision account that causes the packet bursts.

Sledgehammer Games team is aware
On this matter, the COD Vanguard team is aware. In fact, on their public Trello board, they confirm that they partially resolved the packet burst issue. But, they are still working on a definitive fix.
