Original story (published on January 12, 2022) follows:

Released in November of 2021, Call of Duty: Vanguard is the latest installment in the decades-old franchise. Developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision, it explores the birth of the special forces during the Second World War.

But like all Call of Duty titles that came out in the last few years, users have faced various bugs and issues that make the gameplay less enjoyable.

Recently, many said that they were unable to unlock Mastery Card even after unlocking all Seasonal Challenges.

And now, many Vanguard players say that they are getting Dev error 6036, which is causing the game to crash. It looks like the issue surfaced after a recent update to the game.

Players are frustrated and said they are unable to play multiplayer and zombie mode because of the error. You can see how the Vanguard Dev error 6036 looks like in the image below.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time a Dev error has been reported. Back in November just days after the game’s launch, players were getting the infamous Dev error 5573, which had haunted Warzone for months.

As it turns out, Sledgehammer Games said they were aware that several Vanguard players are affected by Dev Error 6036. The developers said that the issue is currently under investigation.

They also shared a workaround that involves changing the language to English so players can access multiplayer once again.

The issue is tied to localized versions of Vanguard and by changing the interface language to English, Multiplayer is accessible. We know this is a less-than-ideal workaround for players who want or need to play in their native language and we are currently working on a fix.

Nonetheless, we will be keeping an eye out on the issue and let you know once the developers fix the error for good so make sure you stay tuned for updates.

Update 1 (January 13)

11:22 am (IST): A fix is now released for Dev Error 6036 and _ffotdd_mp.ff that was crashing the game. And this issue should not bother COD: Vanguard players anymore.
