Original story (published on November 03, 2020) follows:

One of the best things about most mobile carriers operating in Canada such as Rogers is that they share their software update schedules with the public.

Most other telecommunication providers across the globe do not share their software update plans with the public which makes us appreciate the extra effort that carriers in Canada put in.

Galaxy-S20-Plus
Samsung Galaxy S20+

Earlier, we covered the software update plans of Fido, TELUS, and Koodo for the month of November.

This time around, we will check out the devices offered by Rogers that will be getting software updates this month.

At present, Rogers has updated its software update schedule page to reflect the details of only a few devices that will be getting new updates in November.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

For starters, a handful of smartphones from Samsung are expected to bag new updates today, i.e., November 3.

These are the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

According to details shared via Rogers’ OS upgrade schedule, all these devices will be getting the October security update today.

Motorola-Edge

Therefore, you may not see any noticeable differences or major improvements after installing the new update.

Apart from these, the Motorola Moto Edge+ is also expected to pick up a new software update on November 5. Once again, it will only bring the October patch to the device.

And on November 9, Rogers will roll out an update for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

While all other devices mentioned above will be getting the October patch, the Mate 20 Pro will get the September patch.

It’s also worth noting that it’s possible that the carrier may not release an update for a device on the expected date due to a number of reasons.

Thus, while it is fine to expect to see the update rolling out on the mentioned date, it’s not guaranteed that it will be available on the said date.

Also, no device from Rogers is expected to get the update to Android 11 as of now. This is a tad disappointing considering that Android 11 was released back in September.

So, those who are interested in knowing more about the rollout of Android 11 from major OEMs and carriers can check out our dedicated tracker to stay updated with the latest on the matter.

Furthermore, if you wish to check out the availability of security patches, you can head here to check whether your device has received the September patch and here to know about the October patch.

That being said, these aren’t the only smartphones that will get new updates this month.

This software update schedule was last updated on October 30. Therefore, Rogers may add details of other devices that will get software updates in November in the following days.

As usual, we will post an update if and when new details emerge on the matter. So make sure to stick around to be the first to know of any new developments.
