Samsung Galaxy A80 One UI 2.5 update allegedly under internal review, still no word on release date

Samsung Galaxy A80 One UI 2.5 update allegedly under internal review, still no word on release date

Samsung Galaxy A80 was among the first smartphones from the company to embrace the Infinity display design aimed at eliminating a significant chunk of bezels.

But unlike others before it, the Galaxy A80 took an interesting path with an all-screen front panel all thanks to a nifty camera mechanism.

The main camera sits on the back of the phone, but it pops up and rotates to become a selfie shooter when needed. Not the first pop-up camera with a rotation mechanism, but no doubt the most unique take.

In addition to producing selfies with the quality of photos captured using the main camera, the Galaxy A80 also ships with a ToF sensor that should come in handy for advanced depth detection.

But then again, none of these will be useful if the software running the show is not up to date. And on this front, Samsung has really stepped up the game, be it timely updates or duration of support.

The Galaxy A80, for instance, is among the few Galaxy A series devices that are likely to receive up to three major Android OS updates, but don’t get your hopes too high on this.

However, what you can rest assured is coming your way is the update to One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. Since the A80 has Android Pie preinstalled, the update to Android 11 would be its second and probably its last too.

Until the One UI 3.0 update arrives, though, it appears that Samsung has intermediate plans to roll out the One UI 2.5 update to the Galaxy A80 at some point.

Not long ago, reports emerged claiming that One UI 2.5 update was scheduled to roll out last week to A80 units, but the rollout was postponed after bugs were discovered in the firmware.

So according to Samsung support the OneUI 2.5 update was scheduled to roll out this week but due to some minor bugs the update has been postponed and we shall get the update very soon. Here have a look at this Ss for more clarity.

Hot on the heels of this development is yet another related take on the status of the Galaxy A80 One UI 2.5 update.

And apparently, at least according to reports from Korea, the update is still undergoing internal review. At this point, it is allegedly unknown if and when the update will be released.

Sure, the Galaxy A80 was not among the devices that Samsung included on the official list of One UI 2.5 rollout. However, Samsung has been rolling out One UI 2.5 to several devices that weren’t included in the initial roadmap.

The Galaxy A50s, for instance, recently bagged the update and the Galaxy A50 is also in line for the same, yet none of them appears on the official timeline provided by Samsung.

Granted, Galaxy A80 users shouldn’t have to worry much about the update for it looks destined to hit the device sooner than later. We will keep an eye and let you know when the rollout begins.
