The Poco M2 launched a couple of months ago and is available with MIUI 11 on top of Android 10 out-of-the-box.

This is despite the fact that MIUI 12 was already available months ago. Therefore, it’s a slight disappointment considering that it means the device will get one less MIUI version update than it should.

Moreover, Xiaomi — or rather Poco — is yet to start rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update for the device.

FYI, the Poco M2 is basically a re-branded Redmi 9 Prime that is sold in India which is also the same device as the global Redmi 9 — codenamed ‘lancelot’ which are also yet to get MIUI 12.

For many, MIUI 12 is worth the wait since the skin brings some cool new features and also adds a fresh coat of paint to all corners of the user interface.

Matter of fact, Poco M2 Pro users began receiving the update to MIUI 12 towards the tail end of September which brought a host of new features with it.

Of course, some MIUI 12 features such as the Super Wallpapers are not part of the package since Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it will be available only on devices with AMOLED displays powered by the Snapdragon 8XX processors.

That said, the company is still working on rolling out new features for its devices running on MIUI 11 and MIUI 12.

And with the latest MIUI-11 based update for the Poco M2, Xiaomi has added new watermarks to the Camera app and has also enabled the fullscreen mode.

These features were already added on the Redmi 9 Prime (India) — aka global Redmi 9 (lancelot) — with the September security update.

The update which brings the new camera features to the Poco M2 is rolling out with the software version 11.0.5.0.QJRINXM, up from the previous version 11.0.4.0.QJRINXM in India.
