[Updated] Here’s alleged Android 11 release date for Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro EU

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 09, 2020) follows:

It’s now almost a month since Android 11 was officially unveiled and almost all OEMs are now hard at work, racing to deliver stable Android 11 builds to eligible devices.

We have a comprehensive Android 11 tracker to keep tabs on all Android 11 rollouts from most major Android OEMs. You can check out the said tracker here.

For OEMs with rather heavy Android skins like Xiaomi, one would expect that big Android updates would take time. That might not exactly be the case.

We already have an unofficial Android 11 roadmap for Xiaomi and a few devices are already undergoing internal testing. Heck, even the likes of Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro aka Poco F2 Pro already have stable Android 11 builds available

You can check out our Xiaomi Android 11 tracker for more on that.

      Redmi Note 9 Pro

Now, the Redmi Note 9 Pro was unveiled back in May 2020 with Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box. The device is, therefore, in line for an update to Android 11.

Android 11 is official so, when is the Redmi Note 9 Pro slated to bag an update to this new version of Android?

Well, according to a Mi Community Feedback Team member on the forum, Android 11 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro is slated for sometime in Q1, 2021.

Android 11 will be available on 1st quarter of 2021

But how true is this really? Well, when asked about when the same Redmi Note 9 Pro is slated to bag the much-awaited update to MIUI 12, the same Xiaomi representative says December 20.

The release of the update will be this coming December 20, 2020

This is in contradiction with all recent development surrounding MIUI 12.

Reports indicate that Xiaomi plans to conclude the rollout of MIUI 12 by end of October and in line with that, we’ve already seen the company wrapping up development.

Only yesterday, we saw reports that the Redmi Note 9S/Redmi Note 9 Pro is slated to bag this long-awaited update on October 20.

What this means is that the aforementioned report on the rollout of Android 11 for Note 9 Pro in Q1 2021 is up for debate.

Either way, we shall be on hand to bring you the latest info as and when we get it so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.

Many thanks to one Tim Steele for the tip. You’re awesome.

      Update 1 (November 16)

IST 04:54 pm: Responding to a user’s query regarding the rollout of Android 11 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, a Mi Community mod stated that the update will start rolling out early next year eligible Redmi Note series devices including the Note 9 Pro.
