New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 26, 2020) follows:

Redmi Note 9 Pro users have been waiting a long while for the company to release the stable MIUI 12 update for the device.

Given that the phone released in May this year, many users expected it would be one of the first phones from Xiaomi to get the MIUI 12 update when it was first announced.

But as we know, this is far from what has happened. Several older models such as the Redmi Note 8 Pro bagged the update to MIUI 12 in all regions way earlier than the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

This can be put down to the fact that Xiaomi tends to release updates for devices sold in China first. Therefore, software development for those phones is prioritized.

However, since the Redmi Note 9 Pro does not have a Chinese counterpart, the development of MIUI 12 for the device does not seem to have been a priority.

And while the Redmi Note 9 Pro sold in India got the update in September, that model has more in common with the global Redmi Note 9S than it does with the Redmi Note 9 Pro sold in other regions.

That being said, towards the beginning of October, we reported that MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro would be released within the month itself.

And well, Xiaomi did indeed start rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update for the device in Turkey as version 12.0.1.0.QJZTRXM. More on that here.

So it was expected that the company will begin seeding its new skin over Android for the device in other regions as well.

Matter of fact, a tweet from Xiaomi’s GM in Indonesia, Alvin Tse, suggested that the wider rollout of the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro is imminent.

Now, it seems that the wider rollout has indeed begun. This is because Xiaomi has released the MIUI 12 update for the Indonesian variants of the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

The update comes as version V12.0.2.0.QJZIDXM which is the same as the version that was re-released for the Redmi Note 9 Pro in Turkey.

Much like any other airborne software update from Xiaomi or most other smartphone vendors, this new MIUI 12 build will be rolling out in batches.

It means that you may have to wait a few hours or even days before the OTA update arrives on your device.

Although, if you aren’t willing to wait for the arrival of the official OTA package, you can manually install MIUI 12 for Indonesia on your Redmi Note 9 Pro via the link below.

A couple of days ago, the European variants of the Redmi Note 9S received the new skin, and thus it’s highly likely that the Redmi Note 9 Pro sold in Europe will get the same treatment soon.

Of course, we will continue tracking the situation and will post an update once MIUI 12 is released in other regions for the device.

In the meantime, keep an eye out on our dedicated tracker to be informed about any new developments regarding Xiaomi’s new skin over Android.
