Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 has been creating a lot of buzz since it was announced. It has been over five months and its development still continues.

While a lot of Xiaomi devices have already bagged the latest custom skin, there are several devices that are still in line to get the same.

Major updates are highly anticipated but they also bring along many bugs and issues which are addressed over time.

Those who are running MIUI 12 on their devices are facing problems related to heavy battery drain and the same is being shared on online platforms like Twitter.

A user has also reported the MIUI 12 battery drain issue on the Mi Community and a moderator has corroborated to this stating that it is a known issue.

Also, the moderator went on to state that the heavy battery drain is simply due to the fact that MIUI 12 is resource heavy.

Moreover, the issue might get addressed in future builds but it is unclear when this is going to transpire.

It is only natural of major updates to have a few issues here and there but MIUI 12 has been around for quite some time now.

Apparently it’s the same with all devices. MIUI 12 is really heavy on the battery. It’s a known issue and hope they get optimized in coming builds.

Xiaomi temporarily suspended the development of MIUI 12 beta in China due to National Day holidays and it has resumed pretty recently.

Xiaomi’s beta testing program members in China have started receiving MIUI 12 beta updates with various improvements but there is no word about the battery drain issue being addressed.

It is unclear why the OEM has been unable to optimize such critical concerns but the moderator’s comment suggests that Xiaomi might indeed be working on addressing such issues.
