[Update: Live in Germany] Motorola Moto G8 Plus Android 10 update rolling out
This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (from July 20) follows:
At this point, Android 10 has been officially out for almost 9 months and many eligible devices have already bagged the update. In fact, focus is now on the next version of Android, Android 11.
Even then, a few devices that are eligible for an update to Android 10 are yet to get the much-awaited update. One such device is the Motorola Moto G8 Plus.
There has been quite a bit of confusion surrounding the Moto G8 Plus’ eligibility for an update to Android 10. However, not too long ago we got clarification that indeed, the Moto G8 Plus would get updated to Android 10 after all.
To further support the confirmation that the device would get updated to Android 10, we are now getting reports of the update already rolling out. Granted, this rollout is a soak test but it is a good sign that the official rollout is not too far.
Initial reports hinted towards a July rollout of the update so this development seems to be right on time. Also, the update has been pending partner approval for a while which could also go to imply that the update is almost ready.
While the above-mentioned confirmation applies for the devices in India, some users in Spain have received this update with software version QPI30.28-Q3-28. We still don’t have the complete changelog but we know that this build brings with it the security patch for July 2020.
This should come as good news to all Moto G8 Plus users seeing as they have been stuck on Android 9 Pie which this device came with out of the box. There is some confusion over this device’s eligibility for an update to Android 11 but these users are probably more concerned about Android 10 at the moment.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this development and update as and when we get more information and hopefully, download links to the Android 10 firmware for the Moto G8 Plus.
